EDUC 593 – Community-Engaged Scholarship and Social Change
W 1-4, June 22nd-August 5 with 2 additional workshop days, to be arranged
Relationships between institutions of higher education and the public reflect stances on knowledge, identity, and power. This course explores historical and contemporary understandings of these relationships and examines in what way these stances have changed and to what effect. Learners from all disciplines will leave the course understanding the theoretical and methodological dimensions of engaged scholarship, as well as its ethical implications and impact indicators. These acquired understandings stand to inform the learners’ design, delivery, and dissemination of future community-engaged efforts and help chart a successful scholarly pathway aimed at social transformation.
