Motivational Interviewing (MI – Hub)

Motivational interviewing is the foundational skill utilized by the Clinical Health Coaching project to help individuals make healthy lifestyle changes. 

The MI-Hub provides resources to facilitate training and programming based on Motivational Interviewing (MI). MI is a conversational tool with documented effectiveness for helping to guide individuals toward a behavior change goal. The technique is widely used in health care settings, as well as in community programs and workplaces to enhance motivation to impact health-related behaviors and enhance health outcomes.

Our Motivational Interviewing Hub provides online training through the distributed Learn@ISU network. The course provides access to an online learning management system, guided weekly content with video-based content and virtual consultation and feedback. Overall, the online course provide users with the basic foundational knowledge and skills needed to apply motivational interviewing in practice.
